This primary source is a photographic look at the United States' navy during the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941. It also contains photos from the Imperial Japanese Navy as well as has survivor accounts from the event. It allows for the viewer to see actual footage of the wreckage of WWII. Because it's a photography website, the viewer actually sees the damage rather than hearing about it. It is crucial because there are actual shots of the ships and submarines and base sites. Primary SourceThis primary source analyzes the outfit of the 1920's. It talks about how the customs, technology, and manufacturing started to arise in the 20th century. The excerpt goes further into the fashion of women during that time and how it was a sign of rebellion with females in a male dominant world. These shocking changes in fashion in women led to suffrage and prohibition. The article goes in further with different styles of the time like the "boyish look" and the flappers.
The significance of the article is that it emphasizes the impact that the Roaring twenties did to America today and how it influenced not just over wardrobes today but the way people are view in society as equal. Cathy Le |

Everyday Life: Progressive Tradition
This page illustrates the cultural, economic, and social structure in Charlottseville at the time. It shows that at the time Charlottesville was prosperous even at the peak of the Great Depression, enough to build three banks, and for the university to build some of its most ambitious structures. Even the racial barriers at the time were nearly nonexistent, unheard of for a city in the south. The significance of this document is that it shows that even though most of the country was suffering at the time, there were cities that, if not prospered, at least help economic stability. This is important because it gave people hope for a better tomorrow. If some parts of the country could escape, or even completely bypass the depression, then other parts could too. Sean Gibson |

This document is the actual legislation in the Neutrality Act of 1935 which was enacted due to WWII. The act states that the US will not trade or give aid to any beilligrent nation. The act also points out that the US will take no specific position in the war at hand. The significance of the document is that the US being blind to the democracies simply fueled the aggressors and eventually prolonged the war once the US joined because the Axis Powers had gotten stronger. So the US could have prevented casualities if it would have protected the deomcracies from the start. Tyler F. |
